Gažul (Gožul) is a small pastoral settlement of stone houses and cattle hens, located in the original environment of the Brač shepard’s settlements, on Vidova Gora. In the winter the village is abandoned, and in warmer days, during spring and summer, you will be enchanted by the smells and tastes of delicious Brač dishes and especially island’s specialty “vitalac“. In the summer months there is a cattle show that attracts a large number of people and tourists, and if you are on the island of Brač at that time, come and feel the special experience of this unique Brač village.
You can reach Gažul following a macadam road connecting the asphalted road to the eastern side of the island near the turning point for Vidova gora. On the road there is a signpost. You can leave the car as soon as you turn and continue on foot. In a 10-minute walk through the woods, you will come to a small shepherd’s village.
