BOOK PROMOTION | Hod po paučini

Two years ago, Mercedes-Benz writer Ceda Marinković honored us with her book of poetry, “Bota obo bitu”. This prolific author is now introducing herself to a new book of spider web aphorisms, which will be promoted on Monday, August 12, at 9 pm at the House of Culture gallery. The editor of the book is Mladen Vukovic. The book will be presented with the author by the director of the Center for Culture, Ivana Bošković Ivičić, while the aphorisms will be read by Manuel Malvasia and Lea Marinković.

As the editor of the book Mladen Vukovic says, the book reflects Ceda’s humorous view of the world, which is a defense against the folly of the world.

We know Cedu Marinković in Bol as an incredible person who manages to write the Bolshevik dialect, even though he is a native of Imotski, constantly has new ideas related to literary creation and possesses the courage and provocation to speak about the world as it is through various literary forms.

So far, Ceda has published the first cookbook in the dialect of Nina’s Credence and Bolshafetine (Bol, 1997), the novel Buol from Souls and Haunting Cartulins (Bol, 2015), then a collection of poems by Nostalgia the Keeper of the Inherited Me (Imotski, 2015), and Bota obo bitu (Bol, 2017) and the latest book to be presented on Monday on The Spider-Man Walk (Imotski, 2018). In order to preserve the dialect of dying Bolshevik chakavic, the native speakers recorded the texts of her brother’s cook, and soon her songs will be recorded in the HR Radio Split studio.

“To love the truth is like knocking coals,” Ceda says, confirming that even at the cost of being uncomfortable in color, talking about the truth of the world.

With this new book of aphorisms, says Mladen Vukovic, the author’s editor, “Ceda Marinkovic enriches contemporary Croatian aphorism, takes the banner of the first aphorist among writers on our islands, and is surely the organizer of some future aphoristic choices and anthologies will not be bypassed.”

Congratulations to Cedi Marikovic on her new book, and we continue to follow her literary work!

I really want to visit Brač! How do I do that?!

Brač is an island which can be reached by sea and air. Here are some basics.

BY SEA ///

There are two ferry lines connecting Brač with a land.

First is in Supetar, connecting Brač with Split, and the second is on Sumartin, connecting Brač with Makarska. There is a third port that can be reached by regular local boat lines, and that is Bol, on the south part of the island. Here, you can reach Brač from Split, or from a neighbouring island Hvar. More information about ferry lines and timetables you may find here.

Also, if you own or rent boats, you may just sail into any place on island Brač. We suggest Brač Deluxe for transfers!

BY AIR ///

Brač has its own small airport, situated in the middle of the island. More and more flights are introduced each year, and all the necessary information you may find on the airport’s website. If you need transportation from the airport to any other place on the island, may we suggest contacting some of the #bestofbrac service providers, such as Taxi Peša, Brač DeluxeRent a Motorino or M&B rent.
