Croatian ethno treasury 2018

Croatian Ethno Treasury is a practical workshop where participants admit knowledge and skills about the various traditional techniques of making and decorating folk costumes such as crocheting, sewing, embroidery, weaving, lace making, traditional jewelery making, garment maintenance and restoration and many others.

With the theoretical part in which you can learn something about the basics of folk costumes and textile handicrafts, the emphasis is on the practical part of the workshop where you can learn or perfect the techniques you are interested in, with numerous demonstrators of traditional textile techniques. Participants are specializing and improving their skills in individual skills, and are divided into a beginner and advanced group:

a) For the beginner group, a program was developed in which the methods of demonstration and individual and group practical work teach the basic traditional textile techniques of embroidery, weaving and applying decorations.

b) The advanced level involves the teaching of traditional techniques of weaving, lace, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, applying leather, fabrics and ribbons, and making traditional jewelery. The advanced level is intended for those attending the previous workshops and those with a higher pre-eminence.

Each student will receive a manual, a list of professional literature, raw materials (embroidery cloth, thread, beads, flutes, ribbons) and will be able to use aids for practical work (embroidery frames, lace and sewing pads, sewing machines, weaving yarns flats). Participants should bring personal items (scissors, centimeters, headgear, needles and other crocheting aids) and material for additional individual work.

If you want to join us and learn something new, you need to complete the application form attached and send it by June 1, 2018 at the latest.

I really want to visit Brač! How do I do that?!

Brač is an island which can be reached by sea and air. Here are some basics.

BY SEA ///

There are two ferry lines connecting Brač with a land.

First is in Supetar, connecting Brač with Split, and the second is on Sumartin, connecting Brač with Makarska. There is a third port that can be reached by regular local boat lines, and that is Bol, on the south part of the island. Here, you can reach Brač from Split, or from a neighbouring island Hvar. More information about ferry lines and timetables you may find here.

Also, if you own or rent boats, you may just sail into any place on island Brač. We suggest Brač Deluxe for transfers!

BY AIR ///

Brač has its own small airport, situated in the middle of the island. More and more flights are introduced each year, and all the necessary information you may find on the airport’s website. If you need transportation from the airport to any other place on the island, may we suggest contacting some of the #bestofbrac service providers, such as Taxi Peša, Brač DeluxeRent a Motorino or M&B rent. Check them out!

Once you’re on the island, rent a car, use taxis or local transportation. For online booking with discount, click here.
