EU Institutions and Croatian Presidency of the Council of the EU

The Municipal Library “Croatian Reader” organizes lecture mag. Vinko Soljacic: “EU Institutions and Croatian Presidency of the Council of the EU” on Monday, March 18, in the area of ​​”Bol” Secondary School, starting at 1.00 pm.

The lecture is open to all those interested.

Vinka Solačić, B.Sc. Electrical Engineer, mag. organizational sciences, worked in “Iskri”, Ljubljana, as a development engineer, system engineer and head of department for quality;

at the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ljubljana, as Advisor to the Director of the Institute for Standardization and Metrology;

at the Ministry of Economy, Ljubljana, as an advisor to the Government of the Republic of Slovenia;

at the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Slovenia to the EU, Brussels, as a consultant for the internal market and consumer safety from 2003 to 2008;

at the Ministry of the Economy, Ljubljana, as a member of the lower cabinet of the director and his deputy at the Directorate for the Internal Market from 2008 to 2012.

The lecture will include the main institutions of the European Union: the European Commission, the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament, their composition, responsibilities and interrelationships in decision-making and acceptance of EU legislation. Emphasis will also be on the role of individual EU member states in the process of making certain decisions at European level.

The role of national institutions – Permanent Representations of Member States in the European Union (including the Republic of Croatia) in Brussels will be explained.

In the end, the role and responsibility of the EU member state which will be chairing the EU Council will be presented, which will be the task of the Republic of Croatia in the first half of 2020.

I really want to visit Brač! How do I do that?!

Brač is an island which can be reached by sea and air. Here are some basics.

BY SEA ///

There are two ferry lines connecting Brač with a land.

First is in Supetar, connecting Brač with Split, and the second is on Sumartin, connecting Brač with Makarska. There is a third port that can be reached by regular local boat lines, and that is Bol, on the south part of the island. Here, you can reach Brač from Split, or from a neighbouring island Hvar. More information about ferry lines and timetables you may find here.

Also, if you own or rent boats, you may just sail into any place on island Brač. We suggest Brač Deluxe for transfers!

Brač has its own small airport, situated in the middle of the island. More and more flights are introduced each year, and all the necessary information you may find on the airport’s website.
