Literary and Visual Journey “Nonexistent Land”

Literary and Visual Journey “Nonexistent Land” according to the book by author Tamara Đermanović awaits us at the Teatrin Bol Theater on Monday, August 26 at 9 pm.

The evening at the Theater is intended as a dramatization of Tamara Đermanović’s book The Road to My Non-existent Country, with reading passages, photographs and music. The program is co-hosted with author Tamara Đermanović and is led by Ivana Bošković Ivičić, while special guest is Ivica Jakšić Čokrić Puko.

The film “Spring of the Sun (23 /) by Stefan Ivančić will also be shown, which is also inspired by the theme of departures and returns. It is a poetic cinematic view of an already forgotten country and its citizens, according to author Tamara Đermanović, scattered around the world. The author, she says, dedicated the book to her friends from Belgrade, Bol and Barcelona.

Tamara Djermanovic (Belgrade, 1965) is a professor at the Faculty of Humanities of Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, where she has lived since 1991.

She completed her general literature at the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade and received her doctorate in relations between Russia and the West at Dostoevsky at the University of Barcelona.

The Road to My Non-existent Country is her fourth author’s book.

In addition to her academic career, she has been writing since she was seventeen. She began publishing in Spain in 1992, where she published dozens of collective book chapters, a large number of academic texts in Russian, Spanish, Serbian, Catalan and English, and more than a hundred articles in various magazines and dailies.

The book The Road to My Non-existent Country takes us on a journey through the countries of the former Yugoslavia to which Tamara Đermanović set out to understand what happened to her country in the not-too-distant past, and to help others understand it. She does not do this through the idea of the South Sergic, for she is not, but with love and deep understanding for the people and different perceptions of the past of Yugoslavia and the future in the countries that were based on it. Tamara’s journey is passionate and layered, full of personal memories and collective memories, often painful.

Through her recollection, the author boldly questions herself, especially crossing the scenery where the war has left the greatest scars. Her journey is emotional and physical, deep and poignant; she, with a great deal of writing skills, builds a strong publicity text to guide us through the tumultuous history of a country and confront universal truths.

The author is especially related to Bol, where she has been coming for the first 25 years of her life, as well as for the last four years, and therefore she wants to share her book and her experiences with her friends in Bol.

The program of this literary and visual journey and presentation is part of the cultural event of the 30th Bol Summer, organized and created by the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Bol.
