Outward Bound in Sumartin

PROJECT DESCRIPTION | The project “Outward Bound in Sumartin” will take place from 14th to 27th October in Sumartin on Brač island and include 16 volunteers aged 18 to 30 from Croatia, Spain, Italy, and Greece. The main aim of the project is to explore sustainable ways of living for the island community which the volunteers will be able to transfer and implement in their own home-communities. The project will promote environmental awareness, sustainability, solidarity, volunteering, and intercultural understanding.

ACCOMMODATION, FOOD, AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS | Real travel cost will be refunded to the volunteers after the volunteering period up to 275 euros from participants from Spain, Italy, Greece, and up to 180 euros for participants from Croatia. You will get 80 Euros in Croatian kuna like your allowance money. Groceries will be provided from the project budget and meals will be prepared by the volunteers themselves. Volunteers will be accommodated in private houses

TRAINING DURING THE PROJECT | Outward Bound method, experiential learning, and non-formal education tools and methods Croatian culture, customs, and the local culture; Erasmus+ program, EVS and basic education about the EU and European Commission programs. They will develop awareness about healthy behaviors, the importance of sports and outdoor activities.

VOLUNTEER PROFILE | Youngsters aged 18 to 30 from Croatia, Spain, Italy, and Greece. Motivated to actively participate in all the activities during the whole project duration, interested to learn and develop their skills, open towards new experiences. Open towards working in a group and living together. – No qualifications or previous experience is required. – Candidates with fewer opportunities will be given an advantage.

I really want to visit Brač! How do I do that?!

Brač is an island which can be reached by sea and air. Here are some basics.

BY SEA ///

There are two ferry lines connecting Brač with a land.

First is in Supetar, connecting Brač with Split, and the second is on Sumartin, connecting Brač with Makarska. There is a third port that can be reached by regular local boat lines, and that is Bol, on the south part of the island. Here, you can reach Brač from Split, or from a neighbouring island Hvar. More information about ferry lines and timetables you may find here.

Also, if you own or rent boats, you may just sail into any place on island Brač. We suggest Brač Deluxe for transfers!

Brač has its own small airport, situated in the middle of the island. More and more flights are introduced each year, and all the necessary information you may find on the airport’s website. If you need transportation from the airport to any other place on the island, may we suggest contacting some of the #bestofbrac service providers, such as Taxi Peša, Brač DeluxeRent a Motorino or M&B rent. Check them out!
