Hiking adventure | #bestofhistory

This special hiking tour will take you the mysterious places you won’t believe exist, show you the rich and mesmerizing history & culture of this island! It might be a little challenging, so you must be in a good physical shape!

Departure with a van, from Supetar, travelling to Murvica. There we walk up 300m to the mysterious Dragon’s cave. Make sure to bring a lot of water and some comfortable shoes. We’ll spend one hour exploring this wonderful cave and relaxing. Afterwards, we walk back to Murvica to board a boat to the Blaca Bay. During our boat ride, we will arrange a picnic with homemade cheese, salads, fruits, and prosciutto. When we arrive to Blaca bay, you’ll have some time to relax and swim. After that we walk up to the monastery Blaca, and spend an hour exploring this one-of-a-kind place, in the middle of the desert. We then continue to the abandoned settlement Dragovode and drive back to Supetar.

BLACA DESERT | Blaca desert is special in so many ways it’s sufficient to say you won’t find anything similar anywhere near or far. It is considered a desert, because of the scarce nature which surrounds the lovely monastery. Blaca desert was a home to many generations of monks since the 17th century. The monastery holds the second largest telescope in Europe, which hasn’t been used for ages. Today, this is one of the most favorite hiking destinations and picture worthy sightings.

DRAGON’S CAVE | Long before Game of Thrones came along, Brač had it’s dragons. In a small ethno village Murvica near Bol, where only few people live today, dragons are residing for couple of centuries. This place was once home to monks who maintained the tradition of Glagolitic writing, mixing Christianity with pagan beliefs, which is still evident in many legends about werewolves, witches and one very special creature – Orkomarin!

I really want to visit Brač! How do I do that?!

Brač is an island which can be reached by sea and air. Here are some basics.

    BY SEA ///

There are two ferry lines connecting Brač with a land.

First is in Supetar, connecting Brač with Split, and the second is on Sumartin, connecting Brač with Makarska. There is a third port that can be reached by regular local boat lines, and that is Bol, on the south part of the island. Here, you can reach Brač from Split, or from a neighbouring island Hvar. More information about ferry lines and timetables you may find here.

Also, if you own or rent boats, you may just sail into any place on island Brač. We suggest Brač Deluxe for transfers!

    BY AIR ///

Brač has its own small airport, situated in the middle of the island. More and more flights are introduced each year, and all the necessary information you may find on the airport’s website. If you need transportation from the airport to any other place on the island, may we suggest contacting some of the #bestofbrac service providers, such as Taxi Peša, Brač DeluxeRent a Motorino or M&B rent. Check them out!

Once you’re on the island, rent a car, use taxis or local transportation. For online booking with discount, click here.
