East coast Brač | #bestofundiscovered

Join us on this guided tour to discover the most secluded and quiet part of Brač – east coast. Experience and taste how locals still work and live!

We drive from Supetar to Sumartin, the easternmost place on the island, known for fishing and boat building; we take a tour of the harbor. We then visit a traditional olive grove and vineyard where we will taste some local products.

After that we take a tour of a stone quarry and stone art in Novo Selo. We then continue to Povlja, one of the most scenic fishing villages on Brač where we will take a guided tour of the famous basilica, followed by a tasting of freshly caught fish in the harbor, with a break for a walk or a coffee overlooking the sea.

Next, we drive to Selca, the place with most monuments per capita in the world! Here we take a guided historic tour and learn how to taste locally made olive oil. On the last stop of the tour, we visit a stone cutting place where we see how the island’s most famous product is made.

Must bring: enough water, comfortable shoes, sunscreen

Some of the best olive oil and the prettiest olive groves are found in the easternmost part of Brač – Selca, Povlja and Sumartin, where people harvest olives by hand and compete for the title of the best extra virgin olive oil. This is also where the unique olive varietal called Buharica hails from. Here you will learn how to taste and appreciate great olive oil!

Brač is famous for its pure white stone that adorns many famous buildings all over the world, and Selca are best known for stonemasons who can turn this stone into works of art. As part of this tour we will see everything stone related – stone quarries, stone cutting, architecture and art.

This is a way of life for many families of the eastern Brač villages of Povlja and Sumartin. If you get up and get to the harbor early enough you can sometimes see small boats coming back with freshly caught fish. In Sumartin you’ll find a small shipyard where wooden boats are repaired and built.

I really want to visit Brač! How do I do that?!

Brač is an island which can be reached by sea and air. Here are some basics.

    BY SEA ///

There are two ferry lines connecting Brač with a land.

First is in Supetar, connecting Brač with Split, and the second is on Sumartin, connecting Brač with Makarska. There is a third port that can be reached by regular local boat lines, and that is Bol, on the south part of the island. Here, you can reach Brač from Split, or from a neighbouring island Hvar. More information about ferry lines and timetables you may find here.

Also, if you own or rent boats, you may just sail into any place on island Brač. We suggest Brač Deluxe for transfers!

    BY AIR ///

Brač has its own small airport, situated in the middle of the island. More and more flights are introduced each year, and all the necessary information you may find on the airport’s website. If you need transportation from the airport to any other place on the island, may we suggest contacting some of the #bestofbrac service providers, such as Taxi Peša, Brač DeluxeRent a Motorino or M&B rent. Check them out!

Once you’re on the island, rent a car, use taxis or local transportation. For online booking with discount, click here.

All the emergency numbers you might need but we hope you won’t!
