Festival of the chakavian word
Stjepan „Štefe“ Pulišelić is the most important chakavian poet from Brač. He has written 14 collections of poems about Brač in original dialect thus obligated all generations of Brač inhabitants. In his honor, cultural institutions together with individuals, at the end of August, organize Festival of Chakavian word in its hometown Škrip. The goal of this interesting festival is nurturing the original Chakavian words and preserves our identity.
This year the festival is dedicated to women in the work of Stjepan Pulišelić, we will remember Neva Kežić and Tonka Petrić, and Brač lady poets Magdalena Senjković, Ivona Džimbeg, Magda Bonačić Marinković and Mercedes Marinković will present their poetry as well.
At the end of the poetic part of the evening, we are celebrating with a fish festival in Škrip, in addition to sardines, black wine, cuddly cakes and „Mrduja“ acapella group.
