Do you hear our islands?
Pokret Otoka / Islands Movement has been, together with many different organizations, local governments and individuals, fighting for the change of the concession law which would give rights over Croatian beaches to suspicious companies with no financial credibility. This all started when the exact same thing happened to one of the most important beaches in Croatia – Zlatni rat in Bol, on our lovely island.
Now, local communities are organizing to show their disapproval of this law and asking for it to be changed in a way that local people, those who live by the sea all year, have a saying in who get’s the right to become a temporary guardian of their beaches, bays and coast.
This Sunday, islanders from many Croatian islands, will unite in a symbolic action of creating a noise so that lawmakers in Zagreb hear their needs and take them seriously when voting for this law, on Monday morning. Join them!
